Integrated Health Service Plan

Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) released its first Integrated Health Service Plan (IHSP) in November 2006. The IHSP is based on the input of nearly 7,000 people and the more than 200 organizations that provide health services within the LHIN, as well as guidance from health system experts. It focuses on things that the residents and health service providers think are important, such as

  • Helping you to find mental health and addictions services when you or your family need them
  • Making it easier for people who need rehabilitation services to get them in the right place
  • Supporting seniors who are frail or vulnerable or who have a hard time finding their way through the health system
  • Helping you to get the services and information you need to manage your chronic illness, such as diabetes, a heart condition or arthritis
  • Co-ordinating discussions on health human resources in our LHIN
  • Reducing wait times and creating Family Health Teams

The IHSP includes a three-year vision for improving the Toronto Central health service system and priorities for action that the LHIN is committed to achieving on behalf of those who use and provide health services in the region.
The IHSP is the starting point for future activity and the plan will be updated each year.

Provincial Alignment

The province of Ontario has received extensive stakeholder input into its 10-Year Strategic Plan for Ontario’s Health System, which will be released later this year.  The development of the Toronto Central LHIN’s IHSP took into consideration the priority areas that have been identified at a provincial level.  Our own local priorities are in line with the province’s strategic directions, particularly in terms of our plan’s emphasis on access, equity and sustainability.
