Building on shared successes to achieve the Toronto Central LHIN vision

This strategy continues the work that began with the first Integrated Health Service Plan. And, so far, a number of important improvements have been achieved:

  • ER wait times have started to come down -- a significant success because ER wait times are symptoms of a system that is not working as well as it should.
  • Last year, investments were made in various initiatives to support people living with addiction and mental health issues, including expanding supportive housing and outreach services for seniors with mental illness and/or addictions.
  • Aging at Home initiatives are providing seniors with more care options in their communities and homes, as well as extra supports to remain independent and avoid hospitalization.
  • The Toronto Central LHIN also launched a project to create Hospital Health Equity Plans – part of the LHIN’s commitment to ensuring everyone in the local area has access to timely and quality care.

This is just a snapshot of the accomplishments in the LHIN over the last three years – accomplishments that belong not just to the Board and staff members of the Toronto Central LHIN but to all of the partner groups and organizations that make up the local health system.
