Helping Ontarians living with mental illness and addictions

The provincial context
About one in five Ontarians will become mentally ill or develop an addiction at some point in their lives. The Minister’s advisory group on mental health and addictions is now working on a 10-year strategy to address these important issues – the first time a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care mental health and addictions strategy has included services funded by other ministries.
The Toronto Central LHIN perspective
It makes good sense to invest in programs and services that help people stay mentally healthy. Every dollar spent on mental health and addiction services saves $7 in health costs and $30 in lost productivity and social costs. In this Plan, you will see how the Toronto Central LHIN is translating this priority into local actions.
