What is IHSP-2?

Every three years the LHINs develop a new plan for improving their local health care systems. The Toronto Central LHIN's first plan - created with extensive input from community members, health care consumers and health care providers - concludes this year. The second plan or "IHSP-2" builds on the progress made to improve local health care since 2007. It will define the key actions that need to be taken now and over the next three years to enhance services for the communities we serve. IHSP-2 will articulate a vision for the kind of local health care system we are working to achieve.

The second IHSP is slated to be launched in late 2009. It will be a plan for the entire health care system - not just the Board and staff of the Toronto Central LHIN. It will reflect the provincial government's health care priorities - reducing ER wait times and Alternative Levels of Care; Diabetes; Mental Health and Addictions and eHealth - and describe the specific actions that need to be taken locally to address these important health care needs. IHSP-2 will also set out key steps towards a local health care system that maximizes the value delivered for the public dollars spent. The plan will include clear goals and targets so that everyone will know how much progress is being made.
